Los Angeles City Guide Larissa Noble

MAPPED OUT

WHAT TO DO IN… LA

The City of Angels is more like several cities, each with their own distinct personality. It’s also, of course, the land of denim, where some of the world’s best jeans labels started out. Larissa Noble, Design Director (womens) for 7 For All Mankind, moved from New York to LA and is in love with its magic: “The connection to both culture and nature here is amazing. The open sky, the light, the nature, the plantings and the chill vibe. I work all week in the busy fashion industry and on Saturday I can be in Malibu to surf in just 25 minutes.” Without further ado, she opens up about the places she’s currently dreaming of returning to…

LA style is…

All about the denim. Practically every cool outfit seen on the street here revolves around jeans – whether ripped boyfriends, slouchy surfer pants or clean indigo skinnies – teamed with rock tees and hoodies by day, and glamorous tops and heels by night.

Maru, Los Feliz

“The shop is beautifully minimal with a neutral and white color palette. The coffee is stellar and served in bespoke ceramic mugs. Heaven for coffee lovers and interior decorators alike!”

The Now Massage

“Amazing Gua Sha and Crystal Healing treatments to promote circulation and mind/body balance.  The environment is really Instagrammable and they sell lovely signature scented candles and apothecary.” (locations in Santa Monica, Silverlake, West Hollywood, and Studio City)

The Palihouse, Santa Monica

“A converted Spanish style 1920 apartment building offers the coolest unique experience.  When staying there I love to hop on a hotel bike and head to Abbot Kinney for shopping and some of the best restaurants in LA.”

The LA look

“Jeans were born in California and forever embody the innovative style of LA. Sunglasses, trainers, vintage denim, bathing suits, easy cotton dresses,  and always a strong jacket (either a leather one or a blazer for layering) as it always cools down at night.  I love wearing oversized men’s button up cotton shirts, as a cover up or as a short ‘dress’.”

LUNCH AND COFFEE

Verve, Arts District - “You’ll always find a crew of people on their laptops (likely writing scripts) and locals in cool workout gear straight from the gym.”

Alfred, Melrose Place - “Killer matcha, dreamy coffee, great vibes and inspiring style-watching.”

All Time, Los Feliz - “Great for brunch/lunch.  It gets so packed they put tables in the parking lot! Owned by a married couple, it’s a hip family vibe. Insane bread, cool people watching, dogs welcome.”

BEST PLACES TO DRINK AND EAT LIKE A LOCAL

Mariscos 4 Viento, Boyle Heights - “LA has the best Mexican food in the country.  There are amazing food trucks that have the best ceviche ever, its cheap, fresh and unforgettable. Often my design team will pick up a bunch of ceviche and fresh tostadas for taco Fridays. “

CULTURE SPOTS

The Eames House, Pacific Palisades - “Mind-blowing for architecture lovers. Located on bluff overlooking the ocean, you can sign up for tours or just wander the grounds.”

MORE MUST-DOS…

Fryman Canyon - “I often hike here. Sprawling 360 degree views of the valley, and it never feels crowded.”

Cliffs of ID - “If it ever does rain, I love hanging out at this indoor climbing and bouldering facility. There are courses for all levels.”
