MY CURATED LIFE

TABITHA SIMMONS

Tabitha Simmons wears many (chic) hats. She’s a shoe designer whose delicate, ladylike creations are loved by a roster of A-listers, from Jennifer Aniston and Meghan Markle to Gigi Hadid and Kate Bosworth. She’s a superstar stylist, contributing editor to US Vogue and long-time Dolce & Gabbana collaborator. She’s also a mother of three, and an English girl in New York. We met her (in pre-lockdown times) at her design studio in Manhattan’s Soho to hear about how she turned her love of shoes into a global business, her style and design inspirations and how she juggles it all with grace, energy – and never a bad outfit.

Woman in workwear clothing

She works with fashion’s biggest names and she’s up close and personal with exquisite clothes all day long. All this taste-honing has given Tabitha an unerring instinct for a signature style that takes her from meetings at the Vogue offices to design studio and fashion shows. She distils it like this: “My look is pretty feminine. It always has a floral, it has a real take on English quirkiness.” She mixes in classic menswear-inspired elements to give her look a little edge: crisp white shirts, impeccable blazers and tweed coats. If you want to emulate her perennially chic, sharp-but-soft look, invest in a ditsy-print dress from the likes of Preen; a full, pleated skirt from one of Tabitha’s favorite houses, Valentino; and add a Savile-Row-worthy jacket and heels.
